220 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 10,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, Feb'y 3rd, 1874.
To the Senate:

I have the honor to inform you that I have approved and
signed Senate Bill No. 2, being "An Act to repeal section
806 of Article IV. of Code of Public Local Laws, relating to
the city of Baltimore, entitle 'Police,' " &c.

WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled "An Act to repeal section 38
of Article XCIII. of the Code of Public General Laws, enti-
tled 'Testamentary Law,' and to re-enact the same with
amendments."

Mr. Denson presented the petition of Martha Schaffer, for
back pay due her under the Laws of 1867 and 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. McCulloh, from the Committee on Pensions, reported
favorably

A bill entitled "An Act to authorize the Comptroller to
audit and pay Pensions to certain persons, soldiers of the war
of 1812, and widows of soldiers of said war."

Which was read the first time.
Mr. Phelps, from a Select Committee reported favorably

A bill entitled "An Act to establish a State Board of
Health."

Which read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Mr. Getty, from a Select Committee reported favorably

A bill entitled "An Act to add a sub-section to seqtion 101,
Article — of the Code of Public General Laws, title General
Assembly sub-title Mileage."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

Mr." Longwell, from a Select Committee reported favorably

A bill entitled "An Act to repeal chapter 181 of the Act
of 1872, entitled an Act to repeal section 21 of Article VII.
of the Code, of Public Local Laws of Carroll county, sub-
title Justice of the Peace and Constables, and to re-enact the
same with amendments, and to amend and re-enact the same.''
