The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The President laid before the Senate the petition of E. Q.
S. Waldron, Pastor of Pikesville Catholic Church, Lawrence
Byrne, M. D., and thirty-six other petitioners of Baltimore
county, praying the passage of a Local Option Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee en Tem-
perance.

Mr. Brewer presented the memorial of Thos. R. Suter,
Frank B. Horner, Geo. Shaw, J. C. Gilpin, Jas. T. Bailey,
S. A. Matlock, Phil. Smitt, E. M. Siers, and two hundred
and thirty other citizens of Montgomery county, asking the
passage of a Local Option Law.

Also,

The petition of Mrs. Wm. J. Cook, Maggie T. Horner,
Attelia M. Bayley, Mary D, Graff, Kate Veirs, Sarah D.
Higgins, and sixty-two other ladies of 4th Election District,
Montgomery county, asking the game .

Which were read and referred to. the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Crawford presented the petition of Humphrey Hum-
phries, and one hundred and thirty others of Wicomico coun-
ty, praying for the protection of the oysters of said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries,

Mr. Steiner presented the petition of Susannah Green, wid-
ow of Benedict Green, a soldier of the war of 1812, praying
to be placed on the pension list.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Davis presented the petition of Dr. M. Merryman,
Heithe S. Gill, and twenty-five other citizens of Baltimore
county, for the passage of a law relating to vagrant stock.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Davis, Stevens and
Billingsley.

Mr. Walsh presented the petition of R. R. Vandiver, J. M.
Simmons, J. T. Frieze, and other citizens of Havre de Grace,
asking the payment of back pension to Captain William
Barnes, of Bennett.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
