On motion by Mr. Brewer, it was

Ordered, That Senators Aydelotte and Blake have leave of
absence for a few days, from Monday next, for the purpose of
visiting the House of Refuge and Maryland Penitentiary.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The rules were suspended, so as to give a third reading this
day to the Senate Joint Resolution, empowering the Comp-
troller to employ counsel in the. case of the State vs. The
Cumberland and Pennsylvania Rail Road Company, as fol-
lows :

Blake, Longwell,

Brewer, Lloyd,

Billingsley, Mudd,
