NEGATIVE.—None.

Said bill was then sent to the Senate.
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the day,
On motion of Mr. Colton,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the Report of
the Committee on Elections in the case of Brooke vs. Widdi-
combe.

When, upon motion of Mr. Colton,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
Report made the order of the day for Tuesday next, the 24th
instant.

The House then proceeded to the consideration of the bill
entitled an Act to repeal Article 81 of the Code of Public
General Laws of the State of Maryland, entitled " Revenue
and Taxes," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Said bill being upon a second reading,
Pending which,

On motion of Mr. Gill,

It was ordered that all debate upon each section of the bill
be limited to ten minutes each speaker.

Mr. Hines (Mr. Greenfield in the Chair) submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 3, sub-section 2, line 5, insert after the word " de-
scription," the words "except mortgages."

Which was read.

Mr. Gill submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

After the word " State," line 4, strike out " all debts se-
cured by, or investments in private securities of every kind,
nature or description."

Which was rejected.
