So the motion to postpone did not prevail.

Mr. McCosker (the rules being suspended) submitted the
following order:

WHEREAS, It is asserted in one of the daily papers, that
undue and corrupt means have been and are now being used
to influence the votes of this Body upon the bill now pend-
ing, and known as the "Local Option Bill;"

And whereas, It is the duty of this Body to investigate
these charges and vindicate itself from these aspersions;
therefor,

Ordered, That the Committee on Temperance investigate
these charges, and have power to send for persons and
papers.
