54. Wherever the word "Bailiff" occurs in the Actor
Acts hereby amended, the word "Collector" shall be substi-
tuted in lieu thereof.

55. The said Mayor and City Council be, and they are
hereby, authorized and directed to ascertain the amount of,
and fund the floating debt of said city now existing; they
shall issue for said purpose the bonds of said city, bearing
six per cent, interest, payable in twenty years from the date
thereof, and redeemable at any time within five years after
date, at the pleasure, of said corporation, in the same manner
as is now provided for the redemption of the present bonded
debt of said city.

SEC, 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts of
Acts, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be, and the
same are hereby, repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

The amendments were severally read, and said bill read a
second time.

On motion of Mr. Park, (the rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal section 102, Article 1, of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title
"Manufacturers and Miners," and re-enact the same with
amendments.

Mr. Harig, (the rules being suspended,).

Presented the petition of L. E. Hilleary, praying for the
payment of a claim against the State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Fletchall, from the Committee on Corporations, (the
rules being suspended,) reported without amendments,

The bill which had been referred to said Committee, enti-
tled an Act to repeal sections 4, 12 and 15 of an Act incor-
porating the town of Laurel, in Prince George's county, and
re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was considered.

Mr. Fletchall, from the Committee on Corporations, (the
rules being suspended,) reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of 1870, chapter
77, section 2, incorporating the town of Frostburg, in Alle-
gany county.

Which was read a first time.
