434 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 19,

The bill Senate entitled an Act to pay and compensate Wil-
liam Frank Tucker and Andrew K. Syester, for legal services
rendered in the United State's Court, in defense of certain
Officers of Registration, &c., indicted and prosecuted therein
for an alleged violation of the Act of Congress, entitled " An
Act to enforce the rights of citizens of the United States to
vote in the several States of the Union, and other purposes,"
Was then read a third time and passed by yeas, and nays,
as follows:

Said bill was then returned to the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Brace, (the rules being suspended,)

The House then proceeded to the consideration of the Sen-
ate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act entitled an
Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Allegany
county to build a new Jail in Allegany county, and for other
purposes, passed at January session, 1872, chapter 65,

Said bill being upon a third reading.
Pending which, (by unanimous consent,)

Mr. Brace withdrew the amendments submitted by him on
the 10th instant.

The bill was then read a third time and passed by yeas
and nays, as follows:
