On motion by Mr. Fields,
Was laid over as unfinished buisness.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to allow additional com-
pensation to Charles E. Hayward and Sewell T. Melbourne,
for professional services in the case of the State vs. Jno. R.
Plater in and to Charles E. Hayward and John W. Crisfield,
the case of the State vs. Wm. H. McCotter,"

Was called up by Mr. Walsh, and

On motion by Mt. Walsh,
Recommitted to the Committee on Finance.

The Senate bill entited "An Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendment sectibn 29, of chapter 36, of the Acts of
1872, entitled an Act to add a new Article to the Code of
Public General Laws regulating the Inspection of Tobacco,"

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Brattan, McCulloh,

Crawford, Stevens,

Claggett, Steiner,

Davis, Spencer,

Getty, Tuck,

The Senators proceeded to the Hall of the House of Delegates
to enter into Joint Meeting for the election of Police Com.-
missioners for Baltimore City.

JOINT MEETING.

The Senators of Maryland, accompanied by the Secretary of
the Senate, appeared in the Hall of the House of Delegates.

The Speaker, as Chairman of the Joint Meeting, then an-
