1874.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 3T9-

A bill entitled an Act to add a new section to Article 1,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled ''Allegany
County," sub-title "Surveys."

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Dawson, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 7, of the Act of 1870,
chapter 472, entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1866,
chapter 146, entitled an Act to repeal the charter of Den-
ton, in Caroline county, &c., &c., and re-enact the same with,
amendments thereto.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. "West, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
without amendment,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the County
Commissioners of Garrett county to provide for and defray
the expenses of taking the census of said county.

Which was read a second time.

The bill entitled an Act to appoint Commissioners to re-
district Kent county,

Being upon a second reading,
On motion of Mr. Merritt,

The further consideration thereof was postponed and said
bill recommitted to the Select Committee reporting the
same.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor, Comp-
troller and Treasurer to settle the accounts of Charles E. Ma-
guire, late weigher of live stock, and to compromise with his
sureties, if, in their judgment, the same is advisable,

Being upon a second reading,

On motion of Mr. T. H; Hamilton,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
bill made the order of the day for Wednesday, 18th instant.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 69 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1864, and the section therein provided to be
added to the Code of Public Local Laws, in relation to the
levying of direct tax by the Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore, and to re-enact the said sections with amendments,

Was read a second time and ordered to ba engrossed for a
third reading.
