Mr. Keech presented the petition of James Alexander, of
Baltimore county, praying for a change in the law allowing
the lessor of land to distrain on sub-lessees.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial of Wm.
P. Pumphrey, James Mullikin, and sixty other citizens of
Prince George's county, praying for the passage of a law
more fully to define citizenship.

Also,

The memorial of Thomas Berry, Thomas R. Brooks, and
one hundred and eighty other citizens of Prince George's
county, praying for the passage of a law more fully to define
citizenship.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.

Mr. Hodson presented the petition of Joseph H. Johnson,
editor of the "Democrat and News" for compensation for
publishing list of defaulters to State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Etchison submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that the
absence of Mr. Etchison, on Monday and Tuesday of this
week, was occasioned by sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wier submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the United States flag be raised over this
State House, and kept there during the sessions of this Body.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Cooper submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Speaker procure an American Ensign
of suitable size, to be hoisted during the sessions of the House,
as ordered.

Which was adopted.

Mr, Merryman submitted the following order;

Ordered, That the officers of this House shall be allowed
the same pay as the officers of the House at the last session
of the General Assembly,

Which was adopted.
