Mr. Fenton presented the petition of Charles Shipley, Mil-
ton Bull, John O. Mann and several thousand other work-
ingmen and mechanics, asking the passage of the Wages At-
tachment Bill.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Hodson presented the petition of citizens of Bucktown
District, Dorchester county, praying for passage of a Fence
law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Keech presented the memorial of the yearly meeting
of the Society of Friends, held at Lombard street, in the
City of Baltimore, asking that the death penalty for crime
may he changed to imprisonment at labor for a term of
years or for life.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-.
diciary.

Mr. Merryman presented the memorial of the Directors of
the Maryland Industrial School for Girls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Merritt presented the petition of W. W. Stephens and
others, praying the passage of a law making fruit packages
uniform in size, but against stamping said packages, and
asking for the adoption of the Winchester bushel for peach-
boxes.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Bird presented the petition of S. H. Steward and forty-
four others, praying for the removal of gates from public
roads.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Bird, Turner, of
Calvert, and Hawkins.

Mr. Etchison presented the petition of J. N. Wales and
other citizens of Prince George's county, against the removal
of gates on the public roads.

Which was read and referred to the Prince George's dele-
gation.

Mr. Coulbourn presented the petition of William E. Ford
and twenty-four others of Somerset county, praying for a
law to protect terrapins in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Somerset delegation.

Mr. Etchison presented the petition of Samuel Peach,
Jeremiah Duckett, Jonathan T. Walker and fifty other citi-
