The Speaker laid before the House the following Report of
the Hon. Levin Woolford, Comptroller of the State Treasury,
in response to an order of the House:

TREASURY DEPARTMENT,

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,

Annnpolis, Feby. 10th, 1874.
Hon. JESSE K. HINES,

Speaker of the House of Delegates.

MY DEAR SIR:—In obedience to an order passed the House
on the 5th inst., to wit: "Ordered, that the Comptroller of
the Treasury furnish this House with the amount paid for
gas furnished and consumed in the several departments of
the State, for the years 1872 and 1873," I have the honor
to state that the amount paid during the fiscal years of 1872
and 1873, for gas furnished the several departments of the
State, amounts in the aggregate to the sum of five thousand
three hundred and thirty-seven dollars and eighty-eight
cents, ($5,337.88 )

All of which is respectfully submitted.

Which was read.

Mr. Gill presented the petition of Eliza Winingder, pray-
ing for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Turner, of Cecil, presented a petition of ninety-
seven citizens of Cecil county, praying for an amendment
of the present License Law, so as to afford relief from the
evil of multiplied drinking houses.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Waters presented the petition of J. Oliver Wadlow,
N. D. Norris, E. M. Shipley, David Prugh, F. J. Crawford
and twenty others, stockholders of the Baltimore and Liberty
Turnpike Company, asking for a repeal of section 8 of the
charter of that Company, relating to tolls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Merritt presented the petition of Jervis Spencer and
others, asking for the passage of a law taxing dogs in Kent
county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Merritt, Hines
and Kemp.
