So the amendment was rejected.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
Report,

Mr. Stake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Joint Standing Committee be directed
to contract with Messrs. S. S. Mills and L. F. Colton, for the
printing of this present session, upon the terms and condi-
tions of their proposals now before the House.

Which was read.

Mr. Freaner submitted the following amendment:

Add at end of order, the words, "provided that the gross
amount for printing shall not exceed

dollars, and if the gross amount thus provided for, should at
any time be exceeded, the Committee shall report the same to
this House for its further consideration."

Which was read.

The question recurring upon filling the blank in said
amendment,

Mr. McColgan moved that the blank be filled with the

words, "thirty-eight thousand."

Which was decided in the negative.

Mr. Johnson moved that the blank be filled with the words

"twenty-five thousand."
