160 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 29,

Three separate and distinct propositions have heen made
to your Committee for the performance of the work required.
One proposition, made by J. Guest King, Esq., embraced a
proposal to do the printing for the Senate and House of Del-
egates, separately or jointly, for a definite sum, but owing to
the fact that the greater part of the printing for both the
Senate and House of Delegates had previously been order.ed
to be done by the Houses respectively, by Messrs, Wm. T.
Iglehart & Co., for the Senate, and the printers of the last
session for the House of Delegates, it was impossible to ac-
cept the offer, as in that event, two separate contracts would
have been required for each House, and no terms for compen-
sation had been prescribed for the work already ordered, the
cost in the aggregate would almost certainly have exceeded
the usual amount paid for the same.

For the House of Delegates printing, a proposition has
been received from Messrs. S. Sands Mills and L. F. Colton, as
follows:

150 copies of the Daily Journal, for use of the House of
Delegates, free of charge.

600 copies of the Daily Journal, at two dollars per page;
for extra copies at the same rate, less the cost of composi-
tion, (type-setting.)

Documents to be printed at the same rate.
Eule and Tabular Work double price.

For Bills, three dollars per page for any number not ex-
ceeding 500 copies.

2,000 Ayes and Nays, or as many as may be required, free
of charge.

2,000 copies of the Laws passed by this session, printed on
fine white paper, with marginal notes, for three dollars and
twenty-five cents per page for the first five hundred copies,
and for the additional copies the same price—the cost of com-
position to be deducted, and a proper index to be prepared
without an additional charge, and give bond for thirty thou-
sand dollars for the faithful execution of the work.

The work to be approved by the Joint Committee on Print-
ing before being paid for.

For indexing the Journal of the House of Delegates, your
Committee report that they have contracted with Henry Ais-
quith, Esq., for the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars, to
d.o the same—the work to be completed within twenty days
after the expiration of the session.
