On motion of Mr. Keech, five hundred copies ordered to be
printed.

The Report was then referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

On motion of Mr. Loane,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the unfavora-
ble Report of the Committee on Ways and Means, on the
memorial of the Trustees of the Washington University, for
aid from the State to assist in paying mortgage.

Pending which,

On motion of Mr! Loane,

The vote by which the Report of said Committee was
adopted was reconsidered. >

When,

On motion of Mr. Loane,

The memorial was recommitted to the Committee on Ways
and Meaus.

Mr. Stake, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and Council of Hagerstown to borrow the sum of five thou-
sand dollars to pay a judgment of Nathaniel Sehner, and a
judgment of J. Gr. Gruher, recovered against them, to issue
bonds for the payment of the same, and to levy taxtfes on the
assessable property of Hagerstown to redeem said bonds, and
to pay the interest thereon, with proposed amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

At the end of section 3, line 4, add the following : And
the same shall be sold and disposed of by the treasurer of
said corporation, and the proceeds thereof passed into his
custody.

Mr. Stake, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably.

A bill entitled an Act to provide for the belter protection
of Partridges in Washington county,

Which was read a first time.

Mr. West, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
