Mr. Staylor presented the petition of Mary Briscoe, widow
of Alex, Briscoe, Capt. Moale's Artillery, 1812--'14, for ar-
rearage of pension and to he replaced on the pension rolls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Nicodemus presented the petition of Frederick Haw-
man and others, of Frederick county, desiring to he re-instat-
ed upon the pension rolls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Coulbourn presented a petition for local option from
Lawson's district, Somerset county.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Grimes presented the petition of Ann Roberts, for a
pension.

Mr. Koons presented the petition of Wm. F. Hall and five
hundred other citizens of Maryland, praying that the word
'white" may be stricken from the Constitution of the State,
where it occurs in reference to the elective franchise.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Johnson presented the petition of Capt. Levin S. Mc-
Namara and seventy-one others, for the better protection of
oysters in the Chesapeake Bay.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Wier presented the petition of R. T. Semmes and one
hundred and eighty others, of Allegany county, asking for
the passage of a law providing for the introduction and pro-
tection of fish in the Potomac River.
