Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Koons, the blank was filled with the
name of Hon. Henry H. Goldsborough.

The message was then read, assented to, and sent to the
Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

BY THE SENATE,

January 21st, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We suggest, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House
of Delegates, be requested to address a note to the Hon. Wil-
liam Pinkney Whyte, informing him of his election to the
United States Senate for a term of six years from the 4th day
of March, 1875.

Mr. Freaner submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 21st, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing that the Presi-
dent of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Dele-
gates, address a joint letter to the Hon. William Pinkney
Whyte, informing him of his election to represent the State
of Maryland in the Senate of the United States for six years
from the 4th day of March, 1875, and concur therein.

General James Howard delivered the following message
from his Excellency the Governor, together with accom-
panying Report.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
