Pending the consideration whereof,
The hour of 12 o'clock, Meridian, having arrived., in ac-
cordance with the message sent to the Senate, and in conform-
ity with the Act of Congress approved 25th of July, 1866,
entitled an "Act to regulate the times and manner of hold-
ing elections for Senators in Congress," the Senators appear-
ed in the Hall of the House of Delegates; whereupon the
members of both Houses convened in Joint Assembly, and the
Journal of each House was read, and it appeared that the
Honorable Wm. Pinkney Whyte had received a majority of
all the votes in each House; thereupon the Chairman declar-
ed the Hon. William Pinkney White duly elected Senator to
represent the State of Maryland in the Congress of the Unit-
ed States for six years from the 4th of March, 1875.
On motion of Mr. Tuck, the Joint Assembly then adjourn-
ed.
The House then resumed the consideration of the proposed
message to the Senate, in reference to election of Police
Commisioners.
The question recurring upon concurring in the motion sub-
mitted by Mr. McColgan to refer said message to the Select
Committee on Police.
