orable Body, the appointment of a Joint Special Committee
of five—two on the part of the Senate, and three on the part
of the House—to visit the Maryland Institution for the Educa-
tion of the Deaf and Dumb, to examine into its condition,

&c., and to report to the two Houses.

We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Seth,
Hodson, and Latchford.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Henkle submitted the following order :

Ordered, That a Special Committee, composed of two mem-
bers from Anne Arundel, and three members from Balti-
more City, be appointed by the Speaker to take into considera-
tion the purchase of Light street bridge by Baltimore City and
Anne Arundel county jointly, and its maintainance as a free
brdge for general travel.

Which was adopted.

And Messrs. Henkle, Robinson, Groh, C. R. Hamilton
and Joyce, constituted said Committee.

Mr. Koons submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on Education be instructed
to inquire into the expediency of appropriating to the colored
schools of this State, for their separate maintainance, an
equal proportion of the school fund, according to population.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Berry,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to amend section 8, of Article 4, of the Con-
stitution, entitled "Judiciary Department."

On motion of Mr. Groome,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
report a bill to repeal sections 2 and 3, of Article 53, of the

Code of Public General Laws, relating to landlord and
tenant, and to re-enact the same with amendments

On motion of Mr. Berry,

Leave was granted to the Washington county delegation
to introduce a bill to authorize and empower the County
Commissioners of Washington county to subscribe to the
