Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Seth, a division of the question was
ordered.

The question then recurring upon the first proposition of
the Report, to print four thousand copies of the Report of
the Department of Public Education in English,

It was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the second division of
the Report, Mr. Seth submitted the following amendment:

That the Committee on Education ascertain the cost of
translating and printing 500 copies of the School Report in
the German language, and report to this House as early as
expedient.

Which was rejected.

The second proposition of the Report was then adopted.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the Re-
port,

It was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

BY THE SENATE,

January 19th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing to go into an
election of Treasurer on Thursday, and respectfully non-con-
cur therein, the Senate having already acted upon the sub-
ject by a message to your Honorable Body.
