Mr. Watkins submitted the following amendment:

Add after the name of Rev. Mr. Hall, the names of Rev.
Mr. Southgate and Rev. Mr. Henderson, whose compensation

shall be two hundred dollars each.

Which was read.

Mr. Freaner submitted the following amendment:

That so much of the report of the Committee as relates
to the selection of a Chaplain be recommitted to the Com-
mittee, with instructions to confer with the Committee on
Organization on the part of the Senate, and arrange so
that all the resident ministers of Annapolis having charge of
congregations may officiate as Chaplains on alternate days.

Which was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the report of the Com-
mittee as amended,

It was adopted.

And the several officers eleat, named therein, except Mr.
W. H. Parks, appeared, qualified and entered upon the dis-
charge of their respective duties.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-

sage:

BY THE SENATE,

January 14th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Committee of three from the
House of Delegates, and two from the Senate, to visit the
Maryland Hospital for the Insane at Spring Grove, in Balti-
more county, and to report to the two Houses the condition
of saiil Institution, the mariner in which it is conducted, and
