Pending the call of the roll, when Mr. Etchison's name
was called,

Mr. Maclin gave notice, that on to-morrow, before the
members elect were qualified, a protest would be presented
against the right of Messrs. Latchford and Van Robey to a
seat in this House.

Eighty-two members having answered to their names, the
Clerk announced that a quorum was present.

Mr. Groome moved, that for the purpose of a temporary
organization, the Hon. Greenbury M. Watkins be called to
the Chair.

Which was decided in the affirmative.

The Speaker pro tem. having been conducted to the Chair
by Mr, Groome and Mr. Turner, of Baltimore county, deliv-
ered an appropriate address.
