1874.] OF THE SENATE. 119

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Crawford, Claggett and
Phelps to introduce a bill to prevent stock from going at large
in the streets of Quantico, Wicomico county."

On motion by Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled "An Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay the electors of President and Vice President of
the United States, in and for the State of Maryland, their
officers and attendants."

Mr. Fields, from the Joint Committee on Printing, sub-
mitted the following

REPORT.

The Joint Committee on Printing having had under careful
consideration, the subject of contracting for the printing of
the General Assembly for the present session, beg leave to
submit the following report:

Three separate and distinct propositions have been made to
your Committee, for the performance of the work required.
One proposition made by J. Guest King, Esq., embraced a
proposal to do the printing for the Senate and House of Del-
egates, seperately or jointly for a definite sum, but owing to
the fact, that the greater part of the printing for both the
Senate and House of Delegates, had previously been ordered
to be done by the Houses, respectively by Messrs. Wm. T.
Iglehart & Co., for the Senate, and the printers of the last
session for the House of Delegates, it was impossible to ac-
cept the offer, as in that event, two separate contracts would
have been required for each House, and .as no terms for com-
pensation had been prescribed for the work already ordered,
the cost in the aggregate would almost certainly have exceed-
ed the usual amount paid for the same.

For the Senate Printing, a proposition has been received
from Messrs. Wm. T. Iglehart & Co., as follows:

150 Copies of Daily Journal, for use of ^ Senate free of
charge.

500 Copies of Daily Journal at two dollars per page, for
extra copies at the same rate, less the cost of composition
(type setting).

Documents to be printed at the same rate.
Rule and Tabular work double price.

For1 Bills three dollars per page, for any number not ex-
ceeding 500 copies.
