EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, April 1, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I respectfully submit to you the following Military nomi-
nations: .

Frank A. Bond, of Anne Arundel county, to bo Adjutant
General and Chief of Staff.

Andrew U. Chapman, of Charles county, to be Inspector
General.

Ferdinand O. Latrobe, of Baltimore city, to be Judge Ad-
vocate General, vice Ferdinand C. Latrobe, resigned.

Andrew J. Pennington, of Cecil county, to be Quartermas-
ter General.

Gilmor Meredith, of Baltimore city, Commissary General,
vice Gilmor Meredith, resigned.

William H. Grimes, of Washington county, to be Surgeon
General.

George S. Brown, of Baltimore city, to be Paymaster Gen-
eral .

Edmund L. F. Hardcastle, of Talbot county, to be Chief

of Engineers.

Thomas W. Campbell, of Baltimore city, to be Chief of
Ordinance.

John F. Lee, of Prince George's county, to be Chief of
Cavalry.

James Howard, of Baltimore city, to be Chief of Artillery,
vice James Howard, resigned.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments, (except the appointment of Frank A. Bond, to
be Adjutant General and Chief of Staff.)

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The nomination of Frank A. Bond, to be Adjutant General
and Chief of Staff, was referred to the Committee on Execu-
tive Nominations.
