WEDNESDAY, March 18, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Groome, by the hands of R.
G. Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read :

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 14, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland :

I have the honor to make the following nomination for
Charles county:

Justice of the Peace.
7th District—Thomas R. Halley.

JAMES BLACK GROOME.
On motion by Mr. Mudd,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment agreeably to the nomination.
