STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, March 3, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I have the honor to make the following appointment for
Anne Arundel county:

Justice of the Peace.

1st District—Alien Marriott, vice John S. Marriott, re-
signed.

WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.

On motion by Mr. Tuck,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment agreeably to the nomination.

On motion by Mr. Williams,

The vote by which the Senate advised and consented to the
appointments of Justices of the Peace for the second and third
districts of Calvert county, was reconsidered.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

TUESDAY, March 10, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Groome, by the hands of
Richard O. Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read :
