Dec. 23.—Michael J. Brown, Justice of the Peace 5th dis-
trict, vice James S. Gibbs. resigned.

Dec. 23.—Reynolds Patterson, Officer of Registration 4th
district, vice H. W. Talbot, resigned.

On motion by Mr. Brewer,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments agreeably to the nominations.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The Senate resumed the consideration of Legislative busi-
ness.

TUESDAY, January 23rd, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Whyte, by the hands of
Richard C. Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read :

I have the honor to make the following nominations for
Notaries Public in Baltimore city:

Thomas Harris Hodges. George E. Sangston, Thomas
Murdock, Walter S. Wilkinson, and Gustav A. Schwarzman,
(nominated under provisions of chapter 191 of the Acts of

1872.)
