Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I herewith transmit to you a list of Executive appointments
made during the recess of the Legislature for Baltimore city.

1872.

May 14.—Augustus Ballauf, Justice of the Peace 3rd ward,
vice George F. Thompson, resigned.

May 14.—John T. Maddox, Justice of the Peace 16th
ward, vice Giles J. O'Brien, declined.

May 14.—T. J. Grotjan, Auctioneer.
May 20.—Ogden A. Kirkland, Auctioneer.

Sept. 11.—James J. Coates, Officer of Registration 9th
ward, vice James A. Coates, resigned.

Sept. 11.—Solomon L. Auerbach, Officer of Registration
10th district, vice Frederick Steward, resigned.

Sept. 17.—William B. Lewis, Auctioneer, vice John B.
Cannon, deceased.

Oct. 11.—William B. Norman, Auctioneer, vice William
Rex, failed to qualify.

Dec. 31.—Daniel Bride, Justice of the Peace 18th ward,
vice William P. Mills, resigned.

1873.

Feb. 11.—Coreice G. Burton, Auctioneer, vice' A. W.
Pierce, failed to qualify.

Feb. 18.—Wm. H. Byrne, Officer of Registration 20th
ward, vice C. Lewis Hacker, resigned.

Feb. 18.—Daniel McCan, Jr., Auctioneer, vice James L.
Gantt, failed to qualify.

April 14.—William H. Byrne, Officer of Registration 20th
ward, vice himself failed to qualify.

April 18.—Upton Scott, Justice of the Peace 12th ward, vice
