EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, January 13, 1874.
Gentlemen of the. Senate, of Maryland:

I herewith transmit to you a list of Executive appoint-
ments made during the recess of the Legislature for Talbot
county.

1872.

May 20.—Samuel B. Merrick, Justice of the Peace 3rd dis-
trict, vice himself, failed to qualify.

July 8.—William B. Wheeler, Justice of the Peace 1st
district, vice Thomas C. Nicols, deceased.

Dec'r 13.—Thomas J. Slaughter, Justice of the Peace 4th
district, vice James B. Straughn, deceased.

1873.

Nov'r 19.—Robert R. Butler, Justice of the Peace 3rd dis-
trict, vice S. B. Merrick, resigned.

Dec'r 16.—Charles P. Crag, Justice of the Peace 3rd dis-
trict, vice Thomas E. Lloyd, deceased.

On motion by Mr. Lloyd,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointments agreeably to the nominations.
