Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be law-
ful for the members of the said society to elect such offi-

cers, to make such rules and regulations, and adopt such by
laws as they may deem necessary to carry into full effect
the benevolent designs of the said society, for the benevo-
lent relief of the sick and distressed; Provided, that such
rules, regulations and by-laws be not contrary to any of the
provisions of this charter, or to the laws of this state or of
the United States.

Make by laws, &c.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall be and con-
tinue in force until the first day of January, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty five, and until the end of the next session of
the General Assembly, which shall happen thereafter.

CHAPTER 54.

 

A further Supplement to the act, entitled, an act to Incor-
porate the Frederick and Woodsborough Turnpike Road
Company, passed ninth of March, eighteen hundred ana
thirty-three.

Passed Feb. 13,1834

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly o)
Maryland, That the said Turnpike Road company, men-
tioned in the act to which this is a supplement, shall be,
and hereby are invested with the power and authority, to
make and construct a Turnpike road, from the point where
the public road, mentioned in the act to which this is a sup-
plement, is intersected by the public road, leading from
Emmitsburg through Cregerstovvn, to the said point of in-
tersection, and thence from said point along and over the
bed or route of the said last mentioned road, towards Cre-
gerstovvn, of the save length, as is the distance between

the said point of intersection, and the new bridge over the
Monococy river, on the road first above mentioned; Pro-
vided, the said Turnpike road company shall first obtain
the consent in writing, of the Levy court of Frederick
county, or of a majority thereof, at any one of the sessions
thereof for public business.

Proviso

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the managers of the
aforesaid Turnpike road company, for the time being, or a
majority of them shall be, and hereby are authorised to
open subscription books, in the city of Frederick after
twenty days notice, in two newspapers, printed in Freder-
