LAWS OF MARYLAND

How to be constru-

ed

Sec. 16. And be it enacted, That this charter and set
of incorporation and every part thereof shall be good and
available in all things in the law, according to the true in-
tent and meaning thereof, and shall be construed, reputed
and adjudged in all cases most favorably on the behoof and
for the best benefit and behalf of the said trustees and their
successors, so as most effectually to answer the valuable
end of this incorporation, to the general advancement and
promotion of useful knowledge, science and virtue.

 

CHAPTER 51.

Passed Feb. 12., 1834

An act for the benefit of Patty Brookes, of Montgomery
county.

ed

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the administrator of Harry Brookes, (a tree colored man, )
fate of Montgomery county deceased, be, and he is hereby
authorised and required to pay to Patty Brookes, the wi-
dow of the said Harry Brookes, whatever balance map; be
remaining in his hands of the personal estate of the said
Harry Brookes, upon a settlement of his final account with
the orphans' court of said county.

 

CHAPTER 52.

Passed Feb, 12 1834

An act appointing Commissioners to lay out and. open an
alley in the Town of Westminster, in Frederick county,

Commissioners to
lay out, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Isaac Shriver, Jacob Powder, Jr. Jacob
Yingling, Jacob Matthias and William Shipley, jr. Esqrs,
or a majority of them, be, and they are hereby appointed
commissioners to view the ground and premises adjoining
an house and lot on the south, side of the main street, in the
Town of Westminster, owned by John & Murry, and if
in their opinion the public convenience would be" promoted
by the opening of a twenty feet alley, adjoining of said

Direction.

John S. Murry's lot, beginning at the distance of twenty
feet from the north west corner of John S. Murry's lot of
ground on the south side of the main street of Westmin-
