Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That when said bridge is
built, it shall be a free bridge to pass and repass, and kept
up at the public charge as other public bridges of the
county are.

 

CHAPTER 134.

Passed Mar. 4, 1834

An act to provide for the measuring of Tan Bark in the
City of Baltimore.

rected

SECTION 1, Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and af ler the passage of this act it
shall be the duty of the wood corders in the city of Balti-
more, when required to do so, to measure and give a cer-
tificate for all tan bark that shall be carried to said city by
water, estimating one hundred and twenty-eight solid feet

to the cord, for which they shall recehe the same compen-
sation they now receive for measuring wood.

Penalty for neg-
lect

Sec, 2. And be it enacted, That if any wood corder in
said city shall refuse or neglect to perform the duties im-
posed by this act, he shall forfeit and pay ten dollars for
each and evtry offence, to be recovered before a justice of
the peace, one half to the informer, the other half for the
use of the state.

Explanatory

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing contained in this
act shall be so construed as to affect an act to provide for
the inspection of ground black oak bark intended for ex-
portation, and a supplement thereto.
