forfeit the right by said selection, and the governor may
select another in his or her place.

CHAP. 126.

Sec. 2, And be it enacted, That in making selections of
deaf and dumb under this act, and the act to which this is
a supplement, the following rules shall be obseived. 1st.
One shall be selected from each county and the city of Bal-
timore, from which a return shall have been received; and
from which none has heretofore been selected and sent to
the institution. 2d. If after one shall have been selected
from each county and the city of Baltimore, having made
a return, the whole number provided for by law, shall not
have been obtained, then another shall be selected from the
county or the city of Baltimore, from which the greatest
number has been returned and so on, another from the
county having returned the next highest number, until the
whole number shall have been obtained.

Rule for Selection

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That after the whole num-
ber provided for by law, shall be in the institution,
whenever a vacancy or vacancies shall occur, and be
known to the governor, he shall immediately make a selec-
tion or selections to fill such vacancy or vacancies, observ-
ing the rule prescribed in the preceding section of this
act.

CHAPTER 126.

 

An act for the relief of the heirs at law, of Samuel Merritt,
deceased, of Kent county.

Passed Feb. 20,1834

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for Queen-
Anne's county court, as a court of law or equity, to receive,
entertain, decide and act upon aay bill, petition or other
proceedings, of any of the heirs at law of Samuel Merritt,
of Kent county, deceased, or of the next friend or guardi-
an, of any of the infant heirs at law of the said Samuel
Merritt, for a division or sale of the wood-land land and es-
tate lying in Queen Anne's county, of which the said Samuel
Merritt, died, seized or entitled to and whir h descended to
his heirs at law, in the same manner as if the said Samuel
Merritt, had died, seized or entitled to no other lands or
leal estate lying in this state.
