SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

451 A A. The said Treasurer is hereby authorized to appoint

a clerk at a salary of six hundred dollars per annum ; and the

County Commissioners of said county are hereby authorized

and directed to levy said sum annually for the payment of the
|
 
|
salary of said clerk, and the Treasurer shall pay the same

monthly.

|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
|
 
|
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 492.
|
 
|
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 11 of the Code
|
 
|
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Frederick County,"
|
 
|
sub-title "Birds and Game," to be known as Section 55A, to
|
 
|
said Article.
|
 
|
 
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|

55A. It shall not be lawful for anyone to trap, snare, net,

bag or bunch on the ground with a gun or other firearms, at

partridges.

any time, any partridges in Frederick County, and anyone
|
 
|
doing so shall be fined twenty dollars for each bird so taken
|
 
|
or killed, and in default of the payment of said fine and the
|
 
|
State's costs, shall be committed to the Maryland House of
|
 
|
Correction for a period of three months. That the several
|
 
|
justices of the peace of Frederick County shall have jurisdic-
|
 
|
tion of violations of this law, and said violations shall be prose-
|
 
|
cuted in the name of the State of Maryland; and one-half of
|
 
|
the fine imposed, when collected, shall be paid to the informer,
|
 
|
whether he be an officer or some other person, and the other
|
 
|
half to the County Commissioners of Frederick County for
|
 
|
the benefit of the public roads of said county ; and it is further
|
 
|
provided that this Act shall not prevent humane persons trap-
|
 
|
ping partridges to protect them during severe winter weather,
|
 
|
and who shall turn them out again after the winter is over.
