CHAPTER 5.

 

AN ACT to prohibit the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors

 

or lager beer at any place in Garrett County within three

 

miles of Fairview Church in Election District No. 8.

 

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

issue license

persons, association or body corporate, to sell spirituous or

 

fermented liquors or lager beer at any place in Garrett County

 

within three miles of Fairview Church in Election District

 

No. 8 in said county.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect

 

from the date of its passage.

 

Approved February 18, 1904.

 

CHAPTER 6.

 

AN ACT to authorize the President and Commissioners of

 

Chesapeake City to issue bonds of said town to pay off

 

the indebtedness of said town growing out of a suit of Mrs.

 

Agnes T. Emmons and otherwise.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

 

land, That the President and Commissioners of Chesapeake

 

City be and they are hereby authorized and empowered in their

 

discretion to borrow on the credit of said town an amount

 

not exceeding five thousand dollars and to issue coupon bonds

 

therefor in sums not less than five hundred dollars and not more

 

than one thousand dollars each, to be signed by the president

 

and countersigned by the clerk of said President and Com-

missioners of said Chesapeake City, with the seal of said Pres-
ident and the Commissioners of said town attached, and to be
registered by said clerk in a book provided and kept for that

 

purpose, and that said bonds shall bear interest at a rate not

 

exceeding five per cent., payable semi-annually from the date

 

of the issue of said bonds until said bonds are paid, and said

 

bonds shall forever be exempt from all taxation for county and

 

municipal purposes and shall have printed on them a distinct

 

reference to the Act authorizing their issue, and the money

 

arising from the sale thereof shall be applied to the payment

 

of the judgment of said Mrs. Agnes T. Emmons and other in-
