LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

CHAPTER 55.

 

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Western Maryland Tide-

 

water Railroad Company, to enlarge its powers and to sanc-

 

tion and authorize the construction by the Western Mary-

 

land Tidewater Railroad Company of the route and bridge

 

set forth in this Act.

 

WHEREAS, By the charter of the Western Maryland Tide-

Granting pow-

water Railroad Company, the said company is authorized to

construct a railroad beginning at or near Howardsville station,

 

on the line of the Western Maryland Railroad in Baltimore

 

county, and running to the south side of the middle branch of

 

the Patapsco river; and,

 

WHEREAS, By certain Acts amendatory of said charter, the

said company is also authorized to construct, maintain and

 

operate elevators, wharves, piers and other terminal works,

 

and acquire the necessary property therefor, at or near a ter-

 

minus at tidewater in or near the City of Baltimore, and also

 

to construct an additional route or routes and branches from

 

said railroad; and,

 

WHEREAS, The said railroad is now engaged in the construc-

 

tion of a portion of its said route, as set forth in an ordinance

 

of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, approved April

 

5, 1889, and known as Ordinance No. 23, of the years 1888-

 

1889. including the bridge therein described; and,

 

WHEREAS, The plans for said bridge have been ratified and

approved by the said Harbor Board of the City of Baltimore,

and also by the Board of Public Works of the State of Mary-

 

land, and also by the proper authorities of the United States

 

Government; and,

 

WHEREAS, It is desirable that the powers of the said Western

 

Maryland Tidewater Railroad Company should be more

 

specifically defined.

 

SECTION T. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

Ratifying and
