AN ACT for the subscription by the State to the Maryland
|

"Calendar of Wills."
|

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jane Baldwin has had published the first
|
dar of Wills

volume of "The Maryland Calendar of Wills," from 1635 to
|
 
|
1685, and proposes to continue the publishing of the same up
|
 
|
to the abolishment of the Prerogative Court in 1777, in four ad-
|
 
|
ditional volumes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Alary-
|

land, That the State Librarian be and he is hereby authorized
|
 
|
and directed to purchase one hundred and fifty copies of the
|
 
|
first volume of "The Maryland Calendar of Wills," and to sub-
|
 
|
scribe for one hundred and fifty copies of each succeeding vol-
|
 
|
ume, each copy to cost three dollars each, and the Li-
|
 
|
brarian is hereby authorized and directed to draw an order on
|
 
|
the Comptroller of the Treasury for the sum of four hundred
|
 
|
and fifty dollars for the one hundred and fifty copies
|
 
|
of each volume, when delivered to the Librarian by the
|
 
|
said Jane Baldwin or her agent ; and on receipt of such order
|
 
|
the Comptroller of the State be and he is hereby authorized and
|
 
|
directed to issue his warrant upon the State Treasurer for the
|

sum of four hundred and fifty dollars, the cost for
|
 
|
one hundred and fifty copies of each volume of said
|
 
|
"Maryland Calendar of Wills," as per order of the State Li-
|
 
|
brarian ; provided, that any three Judges of the Court of Ap-
|
 
|
peals of Maryland shall first certify, in writing, to the said
|
 
|
Librarian that the said "Maryland Calendar of Wills" is a valu-
|
 
|
able publication, and deserves the patronage of the State ; and
|
 
|
it is further provided, that only one volume shall be accepted
|

and paid for in any one fiscal year ; provided, that the whole in-

dexing shall be completed in not exceeding five volumes.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the State Librarian shall dis-
|

Maryland : two sets to the Land Office ; one set to the Register
|
 
|
of Wills of each county in the State and of Baltimore City, for
|
 
|
use in their respective offices and courts, and the re-
|
 
|
maining sets to remain in the State Library for exchange
|
 
|
with other State libraries for similar publications, retaining not
|
 
|
less than five volumes of each set for the use of the State Li-
|
 
|
brary.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
|
 
|
the date of its passage.
