County Hospital Association," and by that name may and shall

 

have succession and shall be in law capable of suing and being

 

sued, pleading and being impleaded, defending and being de-

 

fended in suits, courts and places wheresoever, in all manner of

 

actions, suits, matters, complaints and causes, and may have and

 

use a common seal and change and alter the same, and shall be

 

capable of acquiring, purchasing and taking by gift, grant, de-

 

vise, or bequest, or otherwise, in trust or in perpetuity, and of

 

holding real and personal estate and property for the uses and

 

purposes of the said corporation, and to sell, dispose of, invest

 

and re-invest any and all property so received by them, as

 

in their judgment may best serve the interest and welfare of the

 

said hospital.

Objects of

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the objects of the said cor-

corporation

poration are to establish and maintain in the City of Hagers-

 

town, in the County of Washington, in the State of Maryland,

 

a hospital at which shall be received persons requiring medical

 

and surgical advice, aid and treatment, and where medicines

 

may be provided and dispensed for their benefit, where they

 

may receive all necessary care and suitable medical and surgical

 

treatment.

Management.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the affairs of said corpora-

 

tion shall be conducted by a Board of Trustees, to consist of

 

not exceeding eleven persons, no one of whom shall, directly

 

or indirectly, receive any compensation for services, nor be in-

 

terested in any contract relating to said hospital or the supplies

 

thereof.

SEC. 1. And be it enacted. That the persons named in the

said corpor-

ment, and such other persons as they may in accordance with

 

the by laws of the said corporation appoint, shall be the trus-

 

tees of the said corporation, and shall have power to make by-

 

laws not inconsistent with the law, and to alter the same, to fill

 

vacancies which may occur in their number by non-acceptance,

 

death, resignation or otherwise; to appoint all necessary physi-

 

cians, surgeons, assistants, stewards, nurses and servants, and to

 

fix their compensation and to discharge them whenever they

 

shall deem it expedient to do so, to make all needful rules and

 

regulations for the government of their proceedings and for the

 

admission of persons to said hospital. And if at any time all of

 

said trustees shall have died, removed from the county, resigned

 

or have become incapacitated to discharge the duties of trustees

 

as required by this Act, and there shall remain no one in being

 

to continue succession, as herein provided for, the Judge or

 

Judges of the Circuit Court for Washington County are hereby

 

authorized to select trustees, who shall have all the powers here-

 

in conferred for the control of the affairs of the said association
