CHAPTER 355.
|
 
|
AN ACT to repeal Section 43J of Article 1 of Code of Pub-
|
 
|
lic Local Laws, title ''Allegany County," sub-title "County
|
 
|
Treasurer," as enacted by Chapter 413 of the Acts of 1902,
|
 
|
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|
 
|
land, That Section 43 J of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
|
Treasurer of
|
Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title "County Treasurer,"
|
Allegany

as enacted by Chapter 413 of the Acts of 1902, be and the same
|
County.

is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to
|
 
|
read as follows:
|
 
|
43 J. The said Treasurer shall be entitled, as compensation
|

for his services, to a salary of twenty-five hundred dollars per
|

but any commission payable to such Treasurer for the collec-

tion of State taxes shall be deducted from said salary or cred-

ited to Allegany County, and the said salary shall be in full
|

for the services rendered by such Treasurer in the discharge
|
 
|
of the duties of his office and no extra compensation shall be
|
 
|
allowed him except such costs and fees hereinbefore specified
|
 
|
as may accrue in the enforcement of payment of taxes and for
|
 
|
assessing new property ; provided, that the Commissioners may,
|
 
|
in their discretion, and if they deem it necessary to the proper
|
 
|
discharge of the duties of his office, allow him a sum of money
|
 
|
not to exceed ten hundred dollars per annum for stamps, clerk
|
 
|
hire and other expenses; and the said Commissioners are au-
|
 
|
thorized and directed in their several annual levies to levy an
|
 
|
amount sufficient to pay the salary and expenses so allowed.
|
 
|
The said salary so allowed shall not be retained by the Treas-
|
 
|
urer out of collections made, but shall be paid him by check
|
 
|
as other claims are paid, and from time to time, as such salary
|
 
|
shall be earned and in no other manner; provided, however,
|
 
|
that one-half of the annual salary of the said Treasurer shall
|
 
|
not be paid unto him until an auditing of his books and collec-
