CHAPTER 355.

 

AN ACT to repeal Section 43J of Article 1 of Code of Pub-

 

lic Local Laws, title ''Allegany County," sub-title "County

 

Treasurer," as enacted by Chapter 413 of the Acts of 1902,

 

and to re-enact the same with amendments.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

 

land, That Section 43 J of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local

Treasurer of

Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title "County Treasurer,"

43 J. The said Treasurer shall be entitled, as compensation

in their discretion, and if they deem it necessary to the proper

 

discharge of the duties of his office, allow him a sum of money

 

not to exceed ten hundred dollars per annum for stamps, clerk

 

hire and other expenses; and the said Commissioners are au-

 

thorized and directed in their several annual levies to levy an

 

amount sufficient to pay the salary and expenses so allowed.

 

The said salary so allowed shall not be retained by the Treas-

 

urer out of collections made, but shall be paid him by check

 

as other claims are paid, and from time to time, as such salary

 

shall be earned and in no other manner; provided, however,

 

that one-half of the annual salary of the said Treasurer shall

 

not be paid unto him until an auditing of his books and collec-
