them for any purpose connected with the duties of their office,

and may commit for trial any person committing at or around

their places of registration any breach of the peace or other of-

fense forbidden by this Article ; they shall have the power to is-

sue summonses, notices, commitments or attachments, when sit-
|
 
|
ting, to the sheriff of Frederick County or to any constable there-
|
 
|
of, or to any police office of said city ; all such processes, warrants
|
 
|
and notices shall be served by said respective officers in the same
|
 
|
manner as if issued by court of record having jurisdiction of the
|
 
|
subject-matter, or by a justice of the peace exercising lawful jur-
|
 
|
isdiction within said city ; the sheriff or any constable who shall
|
 
|
serve any of said processes, notices or warrants shall receive
|
 
|
the same fees or similar fees as he is entitled to receive by law
|
 
|
in State cases, to be paid by the Mayor and Aldermen of Fred-
|
 
|
erick; provided that no police officer shall charge any fee
|
 
|
for any service performed by him under this section, and no
|
 
|
officer of registration shall charge or receive any compensation
|

for services performed under this Article except such as is

270P. On Tuesday, five weeks preceding the election to be
