CHAPTER 315.

 

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commis-

 

sioners of Queen Anne's County to build and maintain a.

 

drawbridge over Kent Narrows; to issue bonds not exceed-

 

ing twenty thousand dollars for the purpose of construct-

 

ing said bridge ; to levy annually a sum on the taxable prop-

 

erty of said county to provide the maintenance of said

 

bridge and said bonds as they mature ; to prevent any trac-

 

tion engine crossing said bridge without written authority

 

and to authorize said County Commissioners to make rules

 

and regulations for the use of said bridge and protection

 

of same.

 

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

to construct a drawbridge over Kent Narrows, in Queen

 

Anne's County aforesaid, at some suitable place to be deter-

 

mined by them in their discretion; said drawbridge to be steel,

 

iron and cement structure, and to be built in a most substantial

 

manner, and to be maintained as a free bridge ; provided, that

 

the cost of erecting said bridge shall not exceed the sum of

 

twenty thousand dollars.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of carrying

Queen Anne's County be and they are hereby authorized, em-

 

powered and directed to issue coupon bonds to an amount

 

not exceeding the sum of twenty thousand dollars, in sums

 

of not less than one hundred dollars, nor more than one thou-

 

sand dollars; said bonds to bear interest at a rate not ex-

 

ceeding five per cent, per annum, payable annually, and to

 

fall due and mature in series or instalments of one thousand

 

dollars each year; the first series or instalment of one thou-

 

sand dollars to mature and fall due one year from the date

 

of the issuance of same; the second series or instalment to

 

mature and fall due two years from the date of issuance of

 

same; and so on until all of said bonds have matured and

 

fallen due; said bonds to be signed by the President of the

 

Board of County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County

 

and to be countersigned by the clerk to said Board, and to be

 

issued under the corporate seal of the said Board of County

 

Commissioners ; and the said County Commissioners are here-

 

by authorized and directed to sell said bonds for cash at not
