216B. The Road Directors aforesaid shall, within thirty days
|
 
|
after their qualification, appoint as Allegany County Roads
|

neer.

Engineer a skillful and experienced man over twenty-five years

|
of age, having the degree of civil engineer, who shall give
|
 
|
his entire time to his office for two years next succeeding
|
 
|
the date of his appointment, or until his successor is appointed
|
 
|
and qualified, unless sooner removed from such office by the
|
 
|
Road Directors upon the recommendation of the Grand Jury for
|
 
|
Allegany County or for cause by said Road Directors deemed
|
 
|
sufficient, and in such case said Road Directors shall immedi-
|
 
|
ately select his successor for the unexpired term. The term of
|
 
|
the Road Engineer first appointed under the provisions of this
|
 
|
Act shall expire upon the tenth day of February, 1906. Before
|
 
|
entering upon his duties, the Roads Engineer shall qualify
|
 
|
by taking oath before one of the judges of the Circuit Court
|
 
|
for Allegany County to faithfully perform the duties of his
|
 
|
office and by giving bond to the said Board of Road Directors
|

216C. The Allegany County Roads Engineer shall inspect

mit specifications and plans for the repairs and improvements

of any road or bridge when called upon by said Road Direc-

performance of their duties.

216D. The Allegany County Roads Engineer shall receive

a salary of eighteen hundred dollars annually, in monthly instal-
|

ments, and four hundred dollars or so much thereof as may be

necessary to meet the traveling, office and other expenses, in-
|
 
|
cluding drawings, specifications, etc., incurred in the discharge
|
 
|
of his duties, which shall be paid by the Road Directors as other

monthly expenditures upon presentation of the account with
|
 
|
properly signed vouchers; and the minimum wages of labor
|
 
|
on said roads shall be one dollar and seventy-five cents per day
|
 
|
for adult workmen, and all wages shall be determined by the
|
 
|
Directors.

216E. The County Commissioners shall, in their annual levy
