which may be transacted without the intervention of a jury;

provided, however, when any of the above mentioned days
|
 
|
shall fall on the first day of January, the fourth day of July,
|
 
|
or on a day set apart by the laws of Maryland as a legal holi-
|
 
|
day, the term of court so falling thereon shall begin on the
|
 
|
day next succeeding, and writs and processes and appearances
|
 
|
to writs and processes issued out of said court shall be re-
|
 
|
turnable accordingly ; and in the trial of any case in said
|
 
|
court on either the law or equity side thereof, the Judges or
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect

from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 26 of the

|
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Courts,"
|
 
|
to be known as Section 44, relating to the payment of salar-
|
 
|
ies to certain classes of Judges after their retirement from
|
 
|
office.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|

land, That the following section be and the same is hereby

44. Every Judge of the Circuit Court for any of the coun-

have served upon the bench fifteen consecutive years, whether

such service be before or after the passage of this Act, or part-

ly before or partly after the passage of this Act, and who
|
 
|
shall have reached the age of seventy, and every person who
|
 
|
has heretofore been elected and has served as Judge of any of
