hereafter to be made, except in so far as they are in conflict

with the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect

from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 127.
|
 
|
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to erect in St.
|
 
|
Anne's Cemetery, in the city of Annapolis, a monument to
|
 
|
the memory of Thomas G. Pratt, late Governor of Alary-
|
 
|
land ; and also to place in the executive chamber in said
|
 
|
city a portrait of the said Governor.
|
 
|
WHEREAS, The body of Thomas G. Pratt, late Governor
|
Unmarked
|
of Maryland, now lies in St. Anne's Cemetery, in the city of
|
grave.
|
Annapolis, unmarked ; and
|
 
|
WHEREAS, No portrait of the said Governor is now in the
|
 
|
executive chamber in the said city of Annapolis ; and
|
 
|
WHEREAS, By reason of the great public service rendered
|

by him during his term of office, 1844-47, in preserving the
|
rendered.

public credit, it is fitting that this State should accord to
|
 
|
him its appreciation of a long-delayed, but merited tribute ;
|
 
|
now, therefore,

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|

to the Stale; and the sum of ten hundred dollars, or so much

thereof as way be necessary, be and the same is hereby appro-
|
 
|
priated to carry out the provisions of this Act; and the Comp-
|
 
|
troller of the Treasury is hereby authorized to draw his war-
|
 
|
rant upon the Treasurer for such sums as the Board of Public
|
 
|
Works, upon their requisition, may require.
|
 
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
|
 
|
from the elate of its passage.
