or corporation with or without license, to sell, give or barter

 

any liquor or intoxicating beverages to any person on the said

 

Potomac river or on the property of the Chesapeake and Ohio

 

Canal Company, and that any violation of this Act shall be pun-

 

ished upon conviction thereof by any Justice of the Peace or

 

court of competent jurisdiction by fine of not less than one

 

hundred dollars and not more than two hundred dollars or by

 

imprisonment in the county jail of the House of Correction

 

of Maryland for a period not exceeding three months or by

 

both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the tribunal

 

having jurisdiction of the same: provided, that this Act shall

 

only apply to Allegany and Washington Counties ; that this

 

Act shall not be construed to apply to leases of properties from

 

the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect

 

from the date of its passage.
