SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|
Commission
appointed to

land, That Henry Page, Hampden P. Dashiell, H. Fillmore

court house

Lankford, Joshua W. Miles, Oliver T. Beauchamp, Thomas
|
for Somerset
|
H. Bock and Thomas Dixon, of Somerset County, be and they
|
County.
|
are hereby appointed Commissioners, and they, or a majority
|
 
|
of them, are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
|
 
|
employ a competent architect at a reasonable compensation
|
 
|
and to contract for and superintend the building of a court
|
 
|
house, jury-room and library, and all the necessary offices for
|
 
|
the accommodation of the Circuit Court and Orphans' Court
|
 
|
for Somerset County, the County Commissioners and other
|
 
|
county boards and officers, upon the public ground in the
|
 
|
town of Princess Anne, in Somerset County, and the furnish-
|
 
|
ing- of said court house and offices, when so constructed, with
|
 
|
necessary fire-proof vaults and cases for the reception of the
|
 
|
public records, and their preservation from loss by fire, and
|
 
|
with all necessary furniture for the accommodation of the
|
 
|
the Circuit Court and Orphans' Court for Somerset County,
|
 
|
the County Commissioners, the Board of School Commis-
|
 
|
sioners for said county. County Treasurer, the State's Attor-
|
 
|
ney, the Sheriff and the members of the bar, and with such
|
 
|
other things as their convenience may require ; which court
|
 
|
house and offices shall be built by contract after public notice
|
 
|
of at least three weeks in such newspapers as said Commis-
|
 
|
sioners shall select ; of the letting of the contract, the County
|
 
|
Commissioners reserving the right to reject bid or bids which
|
 
|
for any reason shall not be satisfactory to them, and the bidder
|
 
|
to whom the contract may be awarded shall execute a bond
|
 
|
to the said County Commissioners with security or sureties.

|
and with penalty approved by the Commissioners appointed
|
 
|
by this Act conditioned for the faithful performance of his
|
 
|
contract in accordance with the specification furnished by
|

offices when built shall not cost exceeding thirty thousand

dollars; and, provided, further, that when so built the said
|

court house and offices shall be under the control and super-

intendence of the County Commissioners for Somerset County.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Commissioners herein
|

and authority to dispose of and sell, at public or private sale,

as they may deem best, the old court house, Clerk's office
|
 
|
and County Commissioners' office, and the proceeds derived

from such sale shall be paid to the County Commissioners of

Somerset County. and shall become a part and parcel of the
|
 
|
court house fund provided for by this Act, or they may give
