SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

duty of the clerk to the County Commissioners in addition

 

to the duties now required of him, to assess all new and

 

unassessed property in said county, for which he shall receive

 

the sum of twenty-five cents for each person's property as-

 

sessed by him, and for this purpose he is clothed with all the

 

powers possessed by collectors of taxes under the provisions

 

of the Code of Public General Laws; and said clerk may

 

appoint one or more deputies, who shall be authorized to act

 

in his place, or for whose acts he shall be responsible and to

 

whom he may pay such compensation as he may deem proper,

 

to be deducted from his salary; and said clerk to the County

Salary.

Commissioners shall receive a salary of seven hundred dollars

 

per annum, and he shall receive no extra compensation for

 

any services rendered the county, except the sum of twenty-

 

five cents for each person's property assessed by him as here-
