AN ACT to incorporate the Queen Anne's Electric Power,

Light and Transportation Company.
|
 
|
|
SECTION i. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|
 
|
|
land, That John E. George, W. Irving Walker, Richard D.
|
 
|
|
Hynson, James E. Kirwan, Samuel R. Hurlock, Harry E.
|
 
|
|
Karr, J. Frank Harper and their associates and successors be
|
 
|
|
and they are hereby created, constituted and declared to be a
|
 
|
|
body politic and corporate under the name and style of the
|
 
|
|
Queen Anne's Electric Power, Light and Transportation Com-
|

pany, and under that name and style shall have perpetual suc-

cession, and may sue and be sued, defend and be defended at

law or in equity, to have and to use a common or corporate

seal, and to alter or remove the same at pleasure, and otherwise

in all things to do, execute and perform whatever any cor-

poration and body politic or individual may, can or might law-

fully do, execute and perform within the scope and for the

object and purpose of the said corporation as follows, namely:

To construct and lay down and operate a railway, with the ne-
|
 
|
|
cessary and proper switches, turnouts and any and all mechani-
|

cal contrivances and devices and appliances suitable to operate

either a single or double track railway, and to run thereon cars

|
|
and carriages, drawn or propelled by steam, electricity or other
|
 
|
|
motive power, in Queen Anne's County, and in the territory
|
 
|
|
adjacent thereto, in the State of Maryland, and said corporation
|
 
|
|
shall have the power to charge such reasonable rates for trans-
|
 
|
|
portation of passengers and freight on said railway and any of
|
 
|
|
the branches or laterals thereof as the board of directors may
|
 
|
|
from time to time determinej and said corporation shall also
|
 
|
|
have the power and right to acquire, hold, manage and dispose
|
 
|
|
of any warehouses, granaries, elevators, wharves, steam or
|
 
|
|
sail boats or barges, and any real or personal property essential,
|
 
|
|
necessary or relevant to the uses and purposes aforesaid, and
|
 
|
|
also to acquire any real estate adjacent to such line of railway
|
 
|
|
or any lateral or branch thereof, and to develop and sell said
