sections which are hereby repealed and re-enacted as follows:

279. Matters affecting the public roads of the county, except

in incorporated towns, shall be under the control of the Board
|

282A. In addition to the Road Commissioners whose elec-

tion is provided by Section 282 of this Article, the County

May 1, 1904, and thereafter, when a vacancy may occur from

any cause, appoint as Prince George's County Roads Superin-

four years, unless sooner removed for cause, and then only
|

upon charges preferred to said County Commissioners, who,

before trying said charges, shall furnish the said road super-

intendent a statement of 'the charges and specifications in writ-
|
 
|
ing. The said superintendent shall personally supervise and
|
 
|
direct all work on the bridges and culverts, and especially shall
|
 
|
draw all contracts and specifications for road and bridge work.

to the trustees of the several districts as they may request, and

in all cases shall and must audit and pass on the bills of the

trustees, after examining their work, before said bills shall be

county. Said superintendent shall report annually, on or be-
|
 
|
fore the first day of January, to said Board of Road Commis-
|
 
|
sioners, and also to the Board of County Commissioners, under
|
 
|
oath in detail, all money spent for labor and material on each
|
 
|
road and in each election district the amount of hard material
|
 
|
used on each road, the mileage of work done by machines, all
