SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect

 

from the date of its passage, but nothing herein contained shall

 

apply to or affect any criminal or civil proceedings at the

 

date aforesaid.

CHAPTER 586.

 

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 9

 

of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Caroline

 

County," sub-title "Almshouse," and to add three new sec-

 

tions to the said Article 6 to be known as Sections 9A and

 

96 to come in immediately after Section 9, and Section loA

 

to come in immediately after Section 10.

 

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

 

land, That Section 9 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local

 

Laws, title "Caroline County," sub-title "Almshouse," be and

the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows,

come in immediately after Section 9, and Section 10A to come

9. The houses known by the name of the "'Poor Houses" of

Poor Houses.

Caroline County and the land thereto belonging, are vested in

 

the County Commissioners of Caroline County and their suc-

 

cessors forever, as their estate and inheritance, one part to be

 

called the "Almshouse," and to be for the reception of the

 

poor of said county, and the other part to be called the "Work-

 

house," and to be for the reception and lodging of vagrants,

 

beggars, vagabonds and other offenders.

 

9A. The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to

sell the present Almshouse farm, if in their judgment a change

 

of location of said Almshouse is desirable and necessary, the

 

same to be sold at public sale after three weeks' notice given

 

in the newspapers published in Caroline County, and on such

 

terms as they shall deem most advantageous to the interests

 

of the said county ; and on receipt of full payment for the said

 

farm the said County Commissioners shall give a good and

 

sufficient deed for the same.

 

96. Should the County Commissioners decide to sell the
